The Hebrew word “esher”, in it’s broadest definition, is to be level, right, happy. In it’s metaphoric definition it is to go forward, prosper, receive and be blessed.
- We receive an esher blessing, we can’t go and get it for ourselves: except by asking God for the blessing
- We react to an esher blessing. “He who despises his neighbor sins, but blessed is he who is kind to the needy.” Proverbs 14:21 (NIV)
- We choose to be a blessing. The prophetess, Anna, was from the tribe Asher [Esher]. She had a lonely and difficult life (as a widow), but she chose to worship God night & day and spoke of the “esher’ to all of Jerusalem looking for redemption.
Esher blessings are not bound by circumstances, God can change any circumstance.
